Bone‐on‐a‐Chip: A Microscale 3D Biomimetic Model to Study Bone Regeneration

چکیده

Organ‐on‐chip models, developed using microengineering and microfluidic technologies, aim to recreate physiological‐like microenvironments of organs or tissues as a tool study (patho)physiological processes in vitro. On‐chip models bone are relevant for the physiology, diseases regenerative processes. While few bone‐on‐a‐chip exist, recapitulating cellular components bone, these do not incorporate chemical structural characteristics tissue. Herein, development platform is reported that comprises 3D model bone. To build platform, first, produced polymer two‐photon polymerization (2PP) from nano‐computed tomography scan trabecular This then coated with layer mineral‐like calcium phosphate. Finally, integrated inside device suitable cell culture. Human mesenchymal stromal cells, cultured up 21 days, show high viability extensive production extracellular matrix, rich collagen. biomimetic can contribute better understanding related formation remodeling, which turn be used regeneration strategies.

Biomimetic Strategies for Bone Repair and Regeneration

The osseointegration rate of implants is related to their composition and surface roughness. Implant roughness favors both bone anchoring and biomechanical stability. Osteoconductive calcium phosphate (Ca-P) coatings promote bone healing and apposition, leading to the rapid biological fixation of implants. It has been clearly shown in many publications that Ca-P coating accelerates bone formati...

3D printed biomimetic bone model with micronetwork and nanohydroxyapatite for breast cancer metastasis study

Currently, metastatic breast cancer (BrCa) provides a crucial clinical challenge. Metastasis occurs as part of a cascade of BrCa evolution, after vascular remodeling and extravasation at the tumor site occur. BrCa tumors commonly metastasize into bone; therefore, it is important to develop a working bone model that accurately simulates the metastasis, arrival, and eventual invasion of BrCa into...

Surface chemistry and effects on bone regeneration of a novel biomimetic synthetic bone filler

The paper presents results of physico-chemical and biological investigations of a surface-engineered synthetic bone filler. Surface analysis confirms that the ceramic phosphate granules present a collagen nanolayer to the surrounding environment. Cell cultures tests show that, in agreement with literature reports, surface-immobilized collagen molecular cues can stimulate progression along the o...

Guided bone regeneration: A literature review

Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is a reconstructive procedure of alveolar ridge using membranes. This procedure is indicated when there is no sufficient bone for implantation, or in the case of optimal implant installation for esthetic or functional needs. GBR can be performed before implant placement, when there is not enough bone for initial stability of implants and less predictable outcomes ...
